DC COMICS
WRITER: Judd Winick
ARTIST/COVER: Cliff Chiang

After being forced to kill Green Arrow on their wedding night, Black Canary is on a rampage but Connor Hawke--- the second Green Arrow, may have come up with clues on what really happened to his predecessor.

This story is filled with passion. Unfortunately, it also has very little common sense. Canary channels her sorrow into rage while her super-powered friends try to comfort her and calm her down. But apparently, they waited an entire month before deciding to do what even the dullest comic book reader would have done immediately-- check if the dead Green Arrow was the real thing and not just a clone/android/doppelganger, etc. Is it suppose to make us, comic book nerds feel good, to discover that we are smarter than Batman? At least the story quickly moves forward and sets the stage for the eventual clash with the secret plotters behind the whole thing.

For such an emotional tale, the art is surprisingly restrained. It tells the story with great clarity and without resorting to flashy gimmicks. But it also leaves many of the male characters looking a bit... hefty. Maybe that is more realistic but it also makes the heroes look less heroic.

Two and a half stars out of five.
