I really like Geoff Hoppe. Geoff is a conservative. He was completing his master’s degree in English while with ComicBookBin. Geoff was a great writer. I’d say he was an excellent writer with the kind of voice that foreshadows greatness. Yeah, greatness. Geoff, as a conservative wrote articles about comics that were different from the norm. Many other Websites, no matter how open they say they are would have published what he had to say.

Geoff’s most known article was a review of Alan Moore’s Lost Girls. Geoff said it was child pornography and a perverse celebration of any kind of sexual activities under the guise of a liberal view of the world. Geoff said it much more severe words, but I’ll let you dig up his review on your own and read straight from the source. I know that Geoff’s article was controversial because it is still one of the most popular four years after he published it. He said in that one review what many would never dare say about something written by Alan Moore. Geoff called Moore on his perversions even if that would cast him as a cranky conservative guy. Geoff was very aware of this and thanked me several times for never removing his articles and allowing him to have such a contrarian view.

For my part, this is exactly what I like about ComicBookBin. I don’t have to agree with writers. In fact often I don’t. But this space they have is theirs and as long as they can put a solid case, they can say whatever they want about Alan Moore and anybody else. Geoff’s first article was in late August 2006. Towards the end of his degree, Geoff announced that he would leave ComicBookBin. He never really told me why but I consider his departure a disappointment. He was a great writer and I hope to read more of his work wherever he lands, whether he’s a conservative writer or not.

Who's Who @ComicBookBin is a feature celebrating the 10th anniversary of ComicBookBin where publisher Hervé St-Louis features writers past and present that have contributed to ComicBookBin over the years.
