Review: Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys #6

It’s a showdown between Harley Quinn and Harley Sinn. With names like that, you know one is a doppleganger for the other. The scenario stops just short of an evil twin story.

Harley Quinn and her gang of Harleys (hence, the name) are stranded on a remote island, where Harley Sinn is determined to wipe them from the face of the earth. And she has her own gang of Harleys to do just that. In a dues ex machine moment, Harley (Quinn) races past certain doom to confront Harley (Sinn). Who will survive? Who will prove herself to be the crazier of the two? Who will lead her team to victory? Who will be surprised at the outcome?

The story features an interesting coda, and Harley Sinn finds herself presented with an opportunity Harley Quinn once embraced. Will she or won’t she? Perhaps it doesn’t matter. Just as Harley Quinn has come into her own as a major player in the DC Universe, so too could Harley Sinn do the same.

In the interest of full disclosure, I missed the first four issues of the series. So maybe there is a key element I’m not privy to, but the story seems nothing special. It easily could have been part of the regular ongoing Harley series, but for whatever reason DC chose to break it out into its own. Maybe it’s the result of lofty expectations, or a marketing ploy, or perhaps a contractual obligation. In the wake of the recent Suicide Squad film, it’s possible the market will become glutted with a whole lot o’ Harley. I hope not, cuz too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.
