Flash and officer Burn visit Mick Rory’s mind and explore his memories. He has drawn them here to escape the control of the sage force. Can Flash and Burns help the rogue villain?
I kept expecting officer Burns to turn into an avatar of the sage force with fire-based powers. The identity of the female consciousness in Mick Rory’s mind was never revealed. Usually, in comics, when a new character with a name as obvious as Burns is introduced with a fire-based villain and even visits his mind, she somehow is turned into a super-powered character with fire-based powers. Well not this time, or perhaps Josh Williamson is simply setting up that scenario for the ending of the Flash quest with the new force powers.
A lot happened in this issue which is often surprising these days in comics. I don’t know where Commander Cold will hand up, but I know that Williamson must have a lot in store for him. He has become the Flash’s new partner in his fight against crime. Of course, I dread the moment where he will become a villain or something, but we all know this is coming, right?
I’m really enjoying Scott Kolins here and I am glad that the editors have finally figured out that it is better to let one artist handle a complete storyline instead of bringing in many fill-in artists. This has hurt the series a lot in the past.
