Much has been leading up to this issue of Batman Beyond. It’s been teased so much I began to wonder if we would ever get here. Thankfully, the cover reveals where “here” is, for those who have been waiting, and that my friends is the big reveal for this issue.

They tried another big reveal, but it was so painfully obvious last issue, it comes as anti-climactic. If you didn’t figure it out then, you’re either brain dead or completely unable to read. I hope writer Dan Jurgens wasn’t trying to surprise anyone, because it came off with all the success of a football-shaped birthday gift.

Hester and Parks are most excellent at what they do, and I am enjoying their artwork on this series immensely. They are among my favorite artists currently working, and they never disappoint.

Batman Beyond is uniquely its own entity, and not beholden to the continuity concerns of the greater DCU. And that’s what I enjoy most about it. It’s familiar but fresh, and it’s enjoyable to see the possible future for the Bat-universe. Keep it coming.

Rating: 8/10
