Is it the end of Kite Man? Is it the end of the least enigmatic and simple ally of the Joker and ersatz Batman foil? The Riddler’s crew and Batman are ready to take on the Joker and stop him once and for all. But betrayal is in the air and it may be Batman who may succumb to the ordeal. Will he survive being doubled-crossed?

I’m getting annoyed at having to write positive superlative to describe this storyline. This is indeed the best Batman story in years. This latest chapter is the penultimate one where the end of the conflict between Batman, the Riddler and the Joker occurs. There are many fine touches such as the redeeming of Kite Man and the clean up of the story with all of the secondary villains still standing.

My comments are not complaints. It is just my way of saying how much I enjoyed this comic. There is more action than usual although Tom King continues to narrate the story strongly. He did think of small details like Firefly’s own transportation mechanism being rigged by Kite Man. Throughout this story, the upcoming revelation that Bruce Wayne will make to Selina Kyle is the one thing that made me want to read more.

Mikel Janín continues to draw all characters distinctively and it makes the story much stronger. This is how the Joker and the Riddler should always look. They should always have those sneers and the personalities that come with them.

Rating: 9.5 /10
