Masquerading as the Venom, Spider-man is discovered as a fake by Wolverine’s son, Daken.  They fight but even though Spider-man defeats Daken, Harry Osborn, Spider-man’s alter ego’s  best friend betrays him to the Dark Avengers and his father Norman Osborn. This is not good for Spider-man as the Dark Avengers have him literally pinned to the grounds with arrows. The beating next issue will be gruesome.

Last issue, the Fantastic Four helped Spider-man masquerade as Venom. Yet this issue, where he could have used their help, he is all alone. It’s quite fun to see Spider-man so helpless for once. I have no idea how he will pull out of this situation and the damage he has already sustain is extensive. Someone will have to give him an healing factor, because the last year, he has had his share of major beating. Yet, he always seems to bounce back.  The best part of this story is of course Harry Osborn’s betrayal.

Checchetto is a very good artist. I’m not familiar with his work but he showed that he could handle the chores remarkably well. The one weakness is his inking which should be more encompassing to cover the lines. His work needs it. He plays a lot with page layouts and use closure to suggest information happening off page. That’s quite good.
