This weekly maxi-series tells the tale of what happened in the crucial year after the INFINITE CRISIS. The big three: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, are absent for a year so we get to see the lesser lights take center stage. In this case, Booster Gold is finally given a chance to shine as both his venal and virtuous sides are put on display. The story is intricate but is also carefully plotted so it never becomes too confusing. The art, while a tad overdone, leaves the huge cast looking very good. At the same time, there is a sense of a story that is all over the place with too many sub-plots threatening to go off in different directions. We may be left with a tale that tries to tie everything together and ends up looking like an overstuffed burlap sack: bulging at the seams and springing leaks in every corner. INFINITE CRISIS also started off well and ended up looking just like that.
