The Leviathan saga continues. As the Metropolis underworld girds its collective loins against the Man of Steel, drama at the Daily Planet continues. Reporter Robin Goode believes she may have the goods on a Lois Lane/Superman affair, and interviews someone with an ax to grind against the Planet’s star reporter, however unhinged that person may be.

Unfortunately, fans of the Man of Steel may be disappointed in this issue. He is “on screen” only briefly, before zooming off to the pages of Superman. Which demonstrates the tightly woven nature of the current storylines. But I can’t help but wonder: when will we see a conclusion?

However, this issue re-introduces someone long absent from the DCU, and it’s refreshing to see Bendis reviving long-forgotten characters and providing them with a purpose. It avoids the redundancy of inventing someone new to fill a role that already exists.

I can’t say I’m a fan of Kudranksi’s art. His body language and facial expressions are excellent – too excellent. Either he’s a phenomenal artist slumming in comics, or he’s running photos through imaging software to turn them into line art. While I am all for the use of technology, sometimes it borders on cheating, like drum machines in the 1980s.
