There are no murdering aliens in this issue. All the murdering and destruction is left in the backyard of humans as they struggle to survive and get by, while their world is being invaded. Duke tries to act like a hero throughout all of this but the more he tries to help his fellow man, the more his fellow man tries to destroy him. Is this the real plan of the invaders? Let the humans kill each other and grab the spoils later?

This issue reads like an encyclopaedia of human survival. It’s each man for himself. It’s a good read. There’s no point showing the tripods or have them shoot humans and cows randomly. The real horror in the actions of the humans. It feels like playing Dungeons and Dragons. Every step Duke takes, brings him to another fate, another step. The only difference is that he has no end goal, save for surviving as long as he can. This issue was a great read and is helping make this series the best War of the World epic since the original written in the 19th century.

The art work is still very solid and well paced. As a black and white comic book series, it looks good and solid. This month’s cover is an improvement against all the older ones, although the colourist has some weird passion for brown covers. It doesn’t really stand out from other books on the shelves.
