Mark Millar's tour-de-force look at superheroes as you've never seen them before continues as the world of downtrodden wage-slave Wesley Gibson turns upside down. The Fox has opened Wesley's eyes in a hail of bullets and blood, and Wesley learns he is heir to incredible powers and incredible fortune. All he has to do to claim them is become a killer, and one of the most vile supervillains the world has ever seen.

As Millar has shown us in the first two issues, this is some over the top, hardcore material. And damn is Millar a sick cat! The issue is full of intrigue and there’s a great sense of trepidation as the issue goes on. It could have gone in many different directions and you are given a little swerve, but then a clue to what actually will happen, if you’re astute enough. It was a good issue, but was really let down by a racial remark that served no purpose to the story.

I don’t know if it was Jones idea or if Millar asked him to, but when you look at the rogue gallery in this issue, you’ll see many similarities to some popular hero’s out there. The opening scenes have that high octane feel to them and just help to highlight how mad crazy The Fox is. I think the last few panels however are the standouts of this issue. And definitely set up the feel of the next issue.

Report Card - C+
