DC's anthology series showcases MAD artist Sergio Aragones. But while previous issues of SOLO focused on the work of great artists, this issue focuses more on the man himself as many of the stories are (supposedly) autobiographical. Aragones relates how he killed a famous comedian in his home country and tells a charming story of his first days in New York and how he survived by reciting poetry (!) Whether these stories are true or not, they certainly are entertaining. A story about a Japanese sword-maker however has a twist ending that most people will see coming. There is also a Batman story by Evanier that is an apparent response to the psycho-Batman that Frank Miller has popularized. Aragones' work is wonderful, as usual. The way he uses detail, movement and emotion while still maintaining a comedic, cartoonish style, is amazing.
