Despite the misleading cover, the members of the Justice League do not turn into composite supermen in this issue. Instead, the tale is about space warps appearing between Seattle and Tokyo, causing people and objects to switch from one place to another or even to merge together. The League investigates the case and discover that the culprit is an old baddie that only the most dedicated fanboys will love.
Still, the use of this Silver-age villain is fitting for this nice, simple Silver-Age style adventure with a smattering of fight scenes and pseudo-science. Some of the action is a little rushed as the writer tries to wrap the story up in one issue while still leaving space for dramatic scenes. But it is satisfying to see Wonder Woman saving the day this time. The attempt to upgrade the old baddie should also cheer some old readers up although many of the children reading this comic may be wondering who this clown is in the first place.
The art follows the style of the animated Justice League series closely but beneath it, you can detect traces of Amancio's own style trying to break through. The characters, particularly the females, do have a more 'rounded' look to them. It is nice to see that the creators are trying new things in this title, even if they still have to follow the mold of the TV series.
