These rankings are compiled from the top 3 vote-getters of 22 different voters on the Internet for comics released on August 25, 2004. 1. The Flash #213, 22 pts
An OK issue, but with some problems. I think the main problem was that it was very episodic, with the episodes usually being unrelated. The Turtle wasn't a great villain by any stretch, but he was a decent change of pace. The vast amount of things that Wally did during a split second did not ring true compared to the things that he sometimes fails to do when the villains broadside him in other issues. However, this is closer to what The Flash should be like.
2. Astonishing X-Men #4, 21 pts

"Ever seen a boxing match where one punch just drives all the wind from a guy's lungs? A similar thing happened to me when I read the last five pages of this issue. I refused to specualte too much on whom Whedon might bring back, but this was a total shock. Good art from Cassady and good dialogue from Joss, as usual. I liked the scenes with the two kids and Ord. The look on his face when he heard the X-Men were out was classic." darklaw14, DC Message Boards
3. Superman #208, 17 pts
"Okay, this storyline started off slow, but when I go back and review it, it's pretty interesting. It's truly a thoughtful Superman story, which ain't a bad thing. Coupled with Lee's amazing pencils (LOVED his take on the fortress of solitude -- and don't get me started on the "showdown" with Aquaman), this gets top honors. Oh -- the gorgeous (and intriguing) last page didn't hurt either." ishmael1st, DC Message Boards
4. We 3 #1, 13 pts
"Great start to this mini-series. Grant Morrison brings us Incredible Journey for the post-Matrix generation, with wonderful artwork by Frank Quitely. I'm really digging this. R. U. 2?" Not My Real Name, DC Message Boards
5. Wonder Woman #207, 10 pts
"Rucka's run continues to improve every issue. #207 was by far the most action packed issue of his run so far, and we also got some real plot advancement. Drew Johnson's pencils are also markedly improved since his first issue. It seems he is finally getting a grip on what Diana should look like. The dinner at the White House next week should be something to see." Jimmy King, DC Message Boards
6. Sleeper: Season Two #3, 7 pts
"The story just keeps crusing along. Fantastic art." chaingunsofdoom, DC Message Boards
(tied for 7th) Green Lantern #180, 6 pts
The first half of the issue had decent dialogue, though the plot was poorly planned throughout. Marz is another one of those writers who cannot tell a story without killing someone, and he repeats one of his worst previous decisions this issue. This would be more interesting if Major Force had not been killed several times earlier for similar reasons. Also the motive for Force doing this and remaining in the employment of the government was poor at best. Kyle once again gives the impression of a dufus thug who survives in spite of himself.
(tied for 7th) Conan #7, 6 pts
"I had no interest in Conan before this series came out, but I'm now a fan. I am very impressed with Busiek's retelling of the original stories and the dynamic, brutal art. The decompressed storytelling is a drawback, but expected in this day and age." The Shadow Knows, DC Message Boards
(tied for 9th) Catwoman #34, 5 pts
'Quite possibly the strongest 'War Games' installment yet. But with Ed Brubaker involved, that's probably not much of a shocker, is it? Brubaker's run is sadly winding down, but he proves that he can still pull a few tricks like page 22 out of his sleeve, regardless. Plus, it doesn't hurt that he's finally given Spoiler something WORTH moping around about." creepingterror, DC Message Boards
(tied for 9th) Promethea #31, 5 pts
A bit of a disappointment. It was like nothing at all happened. I mean, the world ended and all, but it failed to have more than minor significance. The art was good, but I can't say that the issue was memorable.
(tied for 9th) The Losers #15, 5 pts
"A nice filler issue focusing on Aisha. I'm missing Jock's jagged artwork but Ale Garza does a serviceable job filling in." Not My Real Name, DC Message Boards
(tied for 9th) JLA #104, 5 pts
"The best issue of "The Pain of the Gods" so far. Rarely has Martian Manhunter's alien nature been represented so well. Good stuff, although the series is clearly marking time until Busiek shows up." The Shadow Knows, DC Message Boards
(tied for 9th) The Legion #38, 5 pts
Dreamer comes into her own this issue, but the way that she does it seemed poorly contrived. Characterization was good in places, but annoying in others. Not all the loose ends were tied up. The last issue of this series.
14. Batman #631, 4 pts
15. DC Comics Presents: The Justice League of America #1, Love Fights #12, Deep Sleeper #3, Following Cerebus #1, X-Statix #26, Uncle Scrooge #333, Caper #11, Hawaiian Dick: The Last Resort #1, Ojo #1, 3 pts
24. The Witching #3, Basara Vol. 7, Worldwatch #1, Star Wars: Rebublic #68, 2 pts
28. Fierce #2, Doom Patrol #3, 1 pt
