(tied for 1st) Birds of Prey #77, 19 pts
The new villain is intriguing, and Lady Blackhawk becomes more interesting as well. Oracle starts acting strangely, and the fallout from that will probably happen soon. Simone gives us a good selection of extra characters this issue
(tied for 1st) Hawkman #35, 19 pts
Some funny moments. The Fadeaway Man gets much more interesting this issue, as he interacts with various villains that will probably show up sooner or later. The policeman from Gotham is getting on my nerves.
3. Identity Crisis #7, 18 pts
"I'm not sure how this will stand up against other comic book stories, but as just a story, Identity Crisis was a great read. The ending wrapped what needed to be wrapped nicely and left us looking forward to what the future holds. Others may complain that the story was underwhelming, but I will respectfully disagree. Can't wait for Meltzer's next work. If it wasn't for some quirky artwork, the book would have gotten a 5." sjferrari, DC Message Boards
4. Ex Machina #7, 11 pts
"Good discussion of modern topics without getting too partisan and at the same time blending a nice touch of action too? Oh yeah, that works. What about a developing story tying into the hero's origin and a love interest? Ok, Vaughn is living up to his hype. What about the rocking top notch art of Tony Harris? Damn, its some of the best art Harris has done and that is saying a hell of a lot. Tom Feister working with Harris is like Byrne/Austin or Marshall Roger/Terry Austin. They are really perfect for each other creatively." ackthehack, DC Message Boards
(tied for 5th) Fantastic Four #521, 9 pts
"God, I wouldn't want to be the poor schmo who follows Waid on this book. It's like he's taking all of the standard FF characters to the next levels. This time it's Galactus' turn, and he makes a very logical revelation about Galactus' true nature here. Plus, Waid's Johnny and Ben, while not as brilliant as Reed, are still very smart guys underneath their exteriors. (Sue's very smart, too, but she's usually been written that way before in the past 2 decades or so. Ben and Johnny, not so much. So I'm singling it out here.)" iamjoeqslung, DC Message Boards
(tied for 5th) Human Target #17, 9 pts
"Once again Peter Milligan writes a great issue of Human Target. This stand alone issue, guest pencilled by SEAGUY's Cameron Stewart, is a well crafted story. The love life of Christopher Chance blurs as his inner demons continue to haunt him. As he falls in love with one he helps, his past loves blur his thoughts. Issue 17 was everything a comic should be: Exceptional storytelling, dynamic artwork, and a resolution that makes you want more." dubipr, DC Message Boards
(tied for 5th) Justice League Elite #6, 9 pts
"This book doesn't seem to be huge in its popularity, but I really enjoyed it. There's a turncoat on the team and now I have that to ponder since IDC is over. Also revealing that one of the elite is really... well, maybe I shouldn't say for those who didn't read it." saintswithin, DC Message Boards
(tied for 8th) Marvel Team-Up #3,6 pts
Good banter this issue, with Dr. Strange and the Fantastic Four. A lot of things were said that I wish had been said to the FF a long time ago. The plot did not entirely make sense, but this is part 3 of something where I didn't get the first two parts. Good twist at the end.
(tied for 8th) Adventures of Superman #635, 6 pts
"Chuck Austen should take notes from Rucka's work on this issue, particularly how Greg combined slam-bang action with compelling storytelling and dialogue. Great idea of Supes using the Steel armor to fight the Parasites. Loved the contrast between the Parasites, with Alexandra embracing her "Bad Girl" side, and Alex being more humanitarian but still extremely dangerous when provoked. Clark and Lanning are as strong as Reis and Campos. The only downer is realizing that the Ruin story won't be resolved right away, despite the last page." iamjoeqslung, DC Message Boards
10. Batman: Gotham Knights #60, 4 pts
"I'm a little burned out on Hush right now. But it was good to see Alfred bash some guys face in though." prunejuice, DC Message Boards
