Another great issue. Geoff makes Rip Hunter interesting for the first time that I am aware of. I don't care much for time stories generally, but once again it is proven that a good writer can make any story good.
2. JLA #109, 16 pts
A decent story, setting up some Crisis-like events to come. It's nice to see the Crime Syndicate running around again. The Qwardians, not so much, but they do get some credit for having spawned the Anti-Monitor.
3. Aquaman #25, 12 pts" I was a little worried that the new writer may not continue exploring the concept of Sub Diego, but I was excited to read him really diving into what is happening in this new undersea city and how people are adapting. There was one bit that seemed a bit out-of-character for Arthur, but this issue made me believe that Arcudi will continue the story in style." nuadha, DC Message Boards
(tied for 4th) Fables #32, 9 pts
Another issue setting the stage. Beauty and the Beast get some of the characterization that they sorely needed. The North Wind shows up. Everything else gets advanced a little.
(tied for 4th) Nightwing #100, 9 pts
"We get to see Nightwing as a confident character that can actually win battles (with ease even). It is good to see Nightwing a bit more stable, but we've had to live with a lot of soap opera writing. It was a good issue, but shouldn't we be reading something a bit higher on the epic scale (issue 100)?" prunejuice, DC Message Boards
6. Gotham Central #26, 5 pts
"Ed Brubaker begins this arc with a character he knows pretty darn well, Catwoman. As Selina is accused of murder, Det. Josie Mac is the primary as a shocking ending to this arc is revealed. Still the best book the DCU puts out. Major problem I had with the book was Jason Alexander's guest pencils. Very Tony Salmon-ish, scratchy and not to my liking. Solid overall." dubipr, DC Message Boards
7. Action Comics #822, 4 pts
"Maybe I'm just cheesy, but I'm liking the interactions between Lois, Clark and Lana. And seeing Kon interact with everyone as part of the Kent family is always fun as well. There was a lot here to play up in future issues: Jimmy taking over Clark's reporting spot? What did Clark do to Jack Ryder (I was really hoping to see that)? Will Perry and Clark ever talk?" sjferrari, DC Message Boards
(tied for 8th) Powers #7, 3 pts
"A crash course in Superhero Image, a law firm with four familiar names as senior partners, and an extreme example of bad consequeces of fan worship." darklaw14, DC Message Boards
(tied for 8th) Wild Girl #2, 3 pts"This seems to be going along quite nicely, for now. Now let's see if Leah Moore can take it to the next level." andrewdynon, DC Message Boards
(tied for 8th) She-Hulk #10, 3 pts
"Why does Titania hate Jen so much? We see how getting what you wish for doesn't get you what you want. Plus, she gets a boost that could bring this series and its heroine to an abrupt end. Extra points for Pelletier's art." darklaw14, DC Message Boards
(tied for 8th) Temporary #1, Above & Below, 3 pts
13. Samurai #1, Nightcrawler #3, Angeltown #2, BPRD: The Dead #2, Demo #13, 2 pts
18. X-Men/Fantastic Four #1, 1 pt
