1. Deadshot #1, 20 pts
It's nice to see this character return from Suicide Squad days. The characterization and dialogue were decent. I would rather see Deadshot be a villain than an anti-hero, but not bad overall.
2. Fallen Angel #18, 14 pts
"The big issue hits, and it is quite good. However, there are still several big questions that need answering."
3. The Ultimates 2 #1, 12 pts
A slow start, but OK enough. Not as great as I expected, because this didn't seem any more special than a typical 20-year old Avengers issue, for instance. Still worth the money.
4. Superman/Batman #15, 11 pts
"This series is a big, loud popcorn movie. The plots (including the current arc) are usually over-the-top. But I always enjoy the interaction between Clark and Bruce. This issue in particular was full of fun nods to DC history. I loved seeing the Freedom Fighters and I enjoyed the way that Legion history was twisted." altamont, DC Message Boards
5. The New Avengers #1, 7 pts
A good start, with good characterization and dialogue. Too much space was spent on a giant but boring 2-page spread explosion and other things like that, but overall a decent read. It sets the stage for some following issues that should be great.
6. The Question #2, 6 pts
"Still an almost lyrical poetic take in terms of the story matched with a combo sketchy Vertigo style art that drifts effortlessly between photo realism and surrealistic touches while still retaining a great sense of action." ackthehack, DC Message Boards
(tied for 7th) Exiles #55, 5 pts
"This book still maintains most of it's original charm, but the frickin Kulan Gath Conan-izing the world scenario is too played out for regualr books, let alone one as open to originality as this." bakuninlives, DC Message Boards
(tied for 7th) Y: The Last Man #29, 5 pts
" I'm starting to hate myself for buying this every month. [lol] Because this one just made me think to myself: "I am the stupidest f**king man I will ever meet in my life." Because I thought it was gonna be the ring which saved Yorick, and you should never trust a Brian K. Vaughan series. It tricks you with it's crisp dialogue & pacing, strikingly original characters & plotlines, and assorted other funnybook goodies. And then, WHAM!!, it lays you out with the mother of all plot twists. Just once again, in case it still hasn't been sinking in to you, why this series is the funnybook answer to the neutron bomb. Now I'm gonna try Ex Machina. Maybe that'll be safer..." creepingterror, DC Message Boards
(tied for 7th) Detective Comics #801, 5 pts
"I really enjoyed this issue, but then I thought Broken City was the best Batman story since Frank Miller wrote Year One. Lots of little crimes to keep Batman busy throughout, plus one overall murder that he's more driven than usual to solve. I rarely follow the Bat titles for more than a few issues in a row, but I might stick around for all 12 issues of City of Crime if it stays this good. The back-up was alright, the art a little too cartoony for my tastes. Presumably Batman will become involved at some point." mistermiracle, DC Message Boards
10. The Monolith #10, 4 pts
"DC's most original title (and soon lamented) hits the stands. The 'Lith battles his 'nemesis' on the streets of Chinatown. Justin Gray and Jimmy P again write intellegent scripts that deal with fantastic situations being resolved with human emotions. The scene of the 'Lith comforting Tilt after finding out that she is HIV positive is probably the best scene DC put out on a page; without the hype from some other poorly written green spandexed archer. Worth every penny in reading these issues." DubipR, DC Message Boards
