These rankings are compiled from the top 3 vote-getters of 15 different voters on the Internet for comics released on October 6th, 2004.

1. Teen Titans/The Legion Special, 10 pts
A very good issue, with many subtle easter eggs for those of us who love LSH history. My favorite line, "Should we just wear names on our shirts? Would that help?" It's not perfect though. Some of the dialogue was klunky, and I'm not sure about the plot yet, but overall a very entertaining read.

2. Wolverine #20, 8 pts
"The first issue of Wolverine I've read since the days of Claremont/Buscema. I was really interested in seeing Romita's pencils, and wasn't let down. He's undoubtedly one of the best artists around. Millar's narration is exceptional as well ... the split "voice" when Logan awakens in the bed is pretty intense. I'll probably stick with this as long as these two are on the title." ishmael1st, DC Message Boards

(tied for 3rd) Y, The Last Man #27, 6 pts
"Great issue. Great art. Looks like some explanations are on the horizon, but I was hoping things wouldn't rely on a "McGuffin device"." chaingunsofdoom, DC Message Boards

(tied for 3rd) Spider-Girl #79, 6 pts
"I know that a cover of a female Green Goblin probably sells more books, but I wish that this book could focus more on creating new villains, instead of re-hashing old ones. I want to see some of the bad guys from the early issues of the book. Still a nice 'done-in-one' story that could have further ramifications somewhere down the road." Jimmy King, DC Message Boards

(tied for 5th) Detective Comics #799, 5 pts
"I may not like War Games all that much, but I do have to credit them with a story where Batman doesn't have all the answers. Maybe Barbara will have to call in Clark and that knife in his pride will really get twisted." Krypton King, DC Message Boards

(tied for 5th) Demo #10, 5 pts
"Self-absorbed, dissatisfied yuppie businessguy meets cute street girl who apparently knows everything about him including his desires and insecurities, and he becomes obsessed with her as they continue to meet. As happens so often with me and this book, it's what we never get to find out that frustrates me- specifically, why was the apparently psychic cute street girl doing what she was doing? More I can't say, because I don't want to give away the surprise at the end. I know, I know, with this series you're not supposed to ask why, just take the events at face value 'cause that's all there is, no more, no less. I can play that game, but more often as not I need more. Becky Cloonan's art is fine, more manga-influenced than she's given us lately, but it looks a little rushed. Again, another stand-alone, well-done, absorbing story which left me unsatisfied at the end. Now, refresh my memory- "Demo" is Greek for what? "Incomplete"?" Johnny Bacardi, DC Message Boards

7. The Monolith #9, 4 pts
"Phil Winslade returns as bid Tomm Coker adieu as penciller, and he's never looked better! Jimmy P and Justin Gray's story has the full gambit of emotions in this issue. A former foe of the 'Lith returns after 70 years in isolation. Our hero saves a child from a rather scummy person that gets his just deserts, as we learn more about the hero's past. Alice and Tilt, the 'Lith links of humanity, are the heart and soul of the issue, as you geninuely feel the pain and suffering of their outcome from Issue 8. Its rare that a comic can pull at your heart with real world situations that hit home, as Jimmy and Justin nailed it. I encourage more people to try this comic, its solid." DubipR, DC Message Boards

(tied for 8th) Baraka & Black Magic in Morocco (gn), 3 pts
"Most graphic travelogues tend to become either too factually-based, which can become boring, or too whimsical, leaving behind the facts that would intrigue the reader. Rick Smith, however, has found a happy medium by not only displaying several interesting events, but also how those events affected him, his wife, and their companions. When plagued by the hassles of travel and the overzealous peddling of carpets by Moroccan salesmen, Smith shows his anger, becoming just as fed-up as you or I would. Smith also lets readers share in his awe, be it awe over an amazing gorge or awe over a simple moment of relaxation. When offering up insights into the horrible treatment of women in Morocco, Smith also delves into the loneliness felt by his wife. By sharing these emotions, Smith has grounded his story in everyday feelings without losing the unique aspects of Morocco. The book never becomes too serious, either, with several truly funny jokes mixed in at all the right points. Smith's art, too, is a great strength of the book, but anyone familiar with his work knew that already. Rick Smith has offered up, in my opinion, the year's best graphic travelogue. That may not have meant much in previous years, but when you beat out Craig Thompson and Josh Neufeld, among others, it really means something." Tek3311, DC Message Boards

(tied for 8th) Queen & Country #27, 3 pts
"Soild storytelling by Greg Rucka with fitting artwork by Mike Hawthorne. Tara jumps out of a window. Wish this was a weekly comic." ruschein, DC Message Boards

(tied for 8th) Exiles #53, 3 pts
"What's worse that a big alien coming to your planet to kill you? When the alien convinces your planet to kill you!" darklaw14, DC Message Boards

(tied for 8th) Uncanny X-Men #450, Majestic #3, 3 pts

13. Captain America/The Falcon #8, Thor #587, Ultimate Spider-Man #66, Even More Fund Comics (gn), Elric: The Making of a Sorceror #1, NYX #5, 303 #1, Jubilee #2, 2 pts

21. Alpha Flight #8, Worldwatch #2, Swamp Thing #8, Chrono Crusade Act 2 Part 2, 1 pt
