Early in May 2014, DC Comics announced several new televised adaptations of its comics and characters. Four new series will appear on NBC, Fox and The CW, next to Arrow which will also come back for a third season.

The Flash
The first spin off from Arrow is The Flash. Actor Grant Gustin premiered on Arrow earlier in the second season for several episodes. This is the second Flash television series produced. Older viewers will remember the first Flash series which lasted one season in 1990-1991. Of interest to long time Flash fans, John Wesley Shipp will appear in the new Flash series’ pilot.

iZombie
iZombie adapts the Vertigo series  created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred. iZombie will appear on The CW. Rose McIver plays Liv, a medical student. She's also a zombie who solves crimes by eating dead people’s brains to gain their memories. It sounds like CSI meets The Walking Dead! Worse concepts have seen the light.

Constantine
Horror is DC Comics’ thing. Everybody’s favourite Sting look alike and dabbler, John Constantine has a new series on NBC. Constantine adapts the Hellblazer comic book. It will stay closer to the source material than 2005 Constantine movie starring Keanu Reeves. A retired John Constantine helps the daughter of a good friend fight demons while trying to redeem his damned soul. Having a female sidekick is not Constantine’s style but at least, actor Matt Ryan looks as much as Constantine as possible.

Gotham
The last series from DC Comics is Gotham. This one is a wild card. Gotham will air on Fox and is a Batman prequel. Ben McKenzie plays Detective James Gordon, the future father / uncle of Barbara Gordon. In Gotham, Bruce Wayne is still a child. A young Selina Kyle shows up too. The series features older Batman characters like Harvey Bullock, Alfred Pennyworth and Oswald Cobblepot. A new addition to the Batman mythos is Jada Pinkett's Fish Mooney.
