CARTOONIST: Kyle Baker
Plastic Man Created by Jack Cole
32 pages, color, $2.95

As good as each issue of Kyle Baker's Plastic Man is, #4 is a visual tour de force of comic sequential art. It's a combination of melodrama and high farce, of which most comic book artists are incapable because they don't have a sense of humor and aren't that good as writers. I'm sure that there are quite a few writers who could tell us story this good, but they can't draw. Baker is an underrated talent in the mainstream. In truth, he belongs in the kind of roster that would include Los Bros. Hernandez, Clowes, and Ware or Brown, Seth, and Tomine.
[DRECK, DULL, READABLE, VERY GOOD, EXCELLENT]
