R. KIKUO JOHNSON’s DEBUT GRAPHIC NOVEL NIGHT FISHER GOES BACK TO PRESS BEFORE PUBLICATION; NYC’s GIANT ROBOT and CHRISTOPHER HENRY GALLERY HOST EVENTS

Fantagraphics Books is proud to announce that R. KIKUO JOHNSON’s Night Fisher, which officially hits stores on Nov. 9, is going back to press to accommodate heavy, last minute reorder activity resulting from the book’s advance critical praise (including starred reviews in Booklist and Kirkus Reviews, as well as raves in Publishers Weekly, Giant Robot, and Bust magazine, amongst others). The spur of last-minute reorders has resulted in initial orders exceeding the initial print run. To accommodate additional orders, a second printing will ship the third week of November.

Additionally, Johnson is following up a tour of his native Hawaii in November with two major events in his current hometown of New York City:

WHAT: Night Fisher and Other Tales, A Solo Art Exhibition
WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 10, 6-9PM (Opening night, show runs thru Dec. 6)
WHERE: Christopher Henry Gallery
550 West 29th (in Chelsea)
New York, NY

WHAT: Book signing with R. Kikuo Johnson
WHEN: Saturday, Dec. 10, 6 to 8PM
WHERE: Giant Robot NYC
437 East 9th St.
New York, NY 10009

The opening reception for "Night Fisher and other tales," R. Kikuo Johnson's first solo exhibition, will be held Thursday, November 10th from 6:30-9:30PM at the Christopher Henry gallery in the heart of New York's art world, West Chelsea. A series of new drawings including a life-sized wall drawing, a selection of original pages from Night Fisher, and large scale color prints will be on display, continuing Johnson's exploration of visual narratives and Americana while expanding into new formal territory. The Giant Robot event on Dec. 10th will be a more traditional book signing.
