MEAN GIRLS (RATED PG-13)

PARAMOUNT PICTURES/A Lorne Michaels Production

DIRECTOR: Mark Waters

WRITER: Tina Fey (from the book QUEEN BEES AND WANNABES by Rosalind Wiseman)

Starring: Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Tim Meadows, Ana Gasteyer, Amy Poehler, and Tina Fey

Opens wide Friday, April 30, 2004

Running time: 93 minutes

From the press packet: Raised in the African bush country by her zoologist parents, Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) thinks she knows about "survival of the fittest." But the law of the jungle takes on a whole new meaning when the home-schooled 15-year-old enters public high school for the first time and falls prey to the psychological warfare and unwritten social rules that teenage girls face today.

Illustrating a serious issue facing girls all across the nation, MEAN GIRLS is the story of Cady Heron, a cultural blank slate when she first sets foot on the grounds of North Shore High School in a small town outside of Chicago, Illinois. After living in Africa, Cady, now a junior, has no idea how "wild" things can be in civilization until she crosses paths with one of the meanest species of all - the "Queen Bee," who at this particular high school is the cool and calculating Regina George (Rachel McAdams).

But Cady doesn't just cross paths with this Queen Bee; she really stings her when she falls for Regina's ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett). Now, Regina's set to sting back by pretending to still like Aaron, so he won't go out with Cady, all the while pretending to be her friend. With no choice but to use the same M.O. to stay in the game, the "Girl World" one-upmanship escalates until the entire school gets dragged into first-class mean-fest.

Surrounded by jocks, mathletes, flaky teachers and subcultures galore, Cady climbs up - and slides down - the harrowing social ladder of junior year, and life in the jungle turns out to be cake compared to high school!

  • WILDSTORM UNVEILS NEW BRANDING

Starting with the EX MACHINA promotional items, projects from WildStorm Productions will feature a new set of branding marks. The three redesigned brands — to be displayed on covers, advertising, posters, the WildStorm website and elsewhere — encompass series set in the WildStorm Universe, creator-driven projects, and licensed and other properties.

The brands will appear on all WildStorm projects and include the following:

WILDSTORM UNIVERSE: for projects set in the same universe, such as SLEEPER, THE AUTHORITY, SLEEPER SEASON 2, PLANETARY and others.

WILDSTORM: for licensed properties such as THUNDERCATS and others.

“It just made more and more sense in recent years to consolidate what we publish into a more manageable number of imprints,” says Jim Lee, WildStorm Editorial Director. “The idea is to push the WildStorm name and imprint to the forefront so that there is a clear call-out to kickass books. Now we can focus our efforts more than ever on WildStorm and America’s Best Comics.”

“We’re refocusing the public’s attention on WildStorm as a core brand,” says Richard Bruning, DC’s Senior VP — Creative Director. “By putting the WildStorm name on all their projects, whether they’re creator-driven, licensed, or part of the WildStorm Universe, it makes it easier for readers to find the books that share that WildStorm style of energy and excitement.”

The brands also will appear on all WildStorm marketing materials, including posters, house and trade ads, and WildStorm issues of HORIZON.
