To kick off 2006, Image Comics is proud to announce the return of co-founder Erik Larsen's Savage Dragon. Back on to the shelves for the first time in eight months, January's Savage Dragon #122 marks the return of one of Image's longest running comics.

The question on everyone's mind is the same - why was Savage Dragon so darned late? To answer that question, here's Savage Dragon creator and Image Comics Publisher Erik Larsen to explain it all.

"The publisher gig has taken up a lot more time than I ever expected and starting off I was incredibly hands on. So much so that I ended up doing a lot of work on other books - most of it uncredited," Larsen explained. "Learning to delegate hasn't been easy, but I learned a LOT in the process and that knowledge will, ultimately, be put to good use on Savage Dragon."

"That being said, Savage Dragon #122 is just wrapping up, #123 is well on its way and by the time January rolls around, I should be pretty far along. Well into #125, if I keep going as I have been. And there's no good reason that that shouldn't be the case, so the book will ship on time, every month."

Beginning with issue #122, there are some major changes ahead in store for our beloved green-finned hero. Savage Dragon has always been an ever-evolving book and the coming months will see some radical changes in the Dragon's life. Resolutions to long-running arcs will lead in to some new, fresh stories, harkening back to the days when Savage Dragon hopped from one crazy adventure to another in a non-stop frenzy that made the book a favorite for fans & pros alike.

"Savage Dragon has always been a sort of epic book. Things start small and build to a huge cataclysmic event and the issues coming up really kick things into high gear. There's a character in the book now, Mister Glum, that has appeared to be rather harmless and cute, but he takes on a vastly different role over the next few issues. Ultimately, the result will be a book which is vastly different from what it has been in the last few years and more like it was in the start," concluded Larsen.

Savage Dragon #122 will be available for order in the November Previews. All previous orders for Savage Dragon are cancelled and each book will be re-solicited. There are currently 11 volumes of Savage Dragon trade paperbacks available for order - your local comic retailer can contact their Diamond Customer Service Representative for ordering.
