The story is all about a guy called Miyamoto Musashi, who decides he wants to be a invincible under the sun. Therefore he trains himself by going to every Dojo in Japan and challenge there best fighters they have to offer. Miyamoto Musashi is actually a true legend in Japanese history as the best Swordsmen in the whole of Japan or commonly known as Kenshi in Japan which means Sword Saint. This whole series is dedicated to Miyamoto Musashi's back story of how he became a lengend in Japanese history. From when he was just 16 years old, to when he has created his own form of sword play and writting a book called "The Book of Five Rings".

Takehiko Inoue has written this series very well, and every Vagabond novel I’ve bought and read I just want more and more of it. Because as a reader myself I have gotten really involved in the series and there is always something exciting in every issue so far. I like the fact that in every Dojo in which Miyamoto Musashi decides to challenge someone in, he learns something new rather than your typical comic strip, where " the main character fights his opponents and wins every time". That gets boring after awhile but Vagabond is different, there is always excitement in every battle which Miyamoto Musashi goes into.

What can I say apart from flawless artwork by Takehiko Inoue. The detail is so immense that pretty much every page is black from all the detail. Takehiko's art work is just so so so so pretty that I can’t possibly use words to describe it. You really do have to see it for yourself or maybe I just enjoy it too much lol But to be honest with you, I read a lot of manga and this is one of the best series I’ve read so far.
