Many people are looking for Nicholas Dane, the sole survivor of Flight 654. The shadowy organization who wants to stop him has even recruited some new assassins to do the job their secret service double agents could not do. It’s a race against time for Nicholas Dane as everything that is dear to him is about to be taken away. Let’s hope one of the abilities he inherited from all the passengers that died in the plane with him are coping skills.
I don’t know what to call it but Boom Studios are carving themselves a new genre just this side of DC Comics’s Vertigo. However, instead of wallowing one their belly buttons like Vertigo, the adventure horror epics by Boom Studios all move forward with plots that are breathless. Again Talent moves quickly and scores a few hits along the way. The suspense emerges naturally and quickly. Although one could predict the ending of this issue a mile away, it still set the pace for great confrontation down the line. Now that all the players have been assembled, let’s just grab a chair and watch the drama.
I love Azaceta’s work a lot. It works on all levels. His stark lines and simple constructions show an economy of lines that can effectively tell the story. It’s not film noir, but close enough to captures the super spy drama unfolding.
7/10
