The third part of this prestige format miniseries features the showdown between Superman and a gang of brash, young villains whose leader has advanced technology and Oedipal issues. Superman, using his flight and super-speed, chases the villains who use a flying car and teleportation to stay just one step ahead of him. Sadly, this story is clearly intended for the TPB treatment so there is no re-cap of the earlier issues which would have explained why this gang holds Superman in such contempt and the significance of Pa Kent in Superman's life. The chase is fun and exciting and the twists and turns are surprising but they lose much of their impact if they are read in three separate parts over three months. The art has a retro-Kirby look about it that makes it stand out but could get tiring if overused. The ending is particularly touching but again, this comes only if the reader is aware of what happened in the two previous issues. It is a nice enough book but since it was obviously meant to be read in one sitting, this miniseries loses something in the process.
