He barely survived a horrible school bus crash.  Then, high school karate star and macho, teen jerk Masashi Rando awakens from a year-long coma to find out that Dr. Manabe, a slightly insane plastic surgeon, has reconstructed Rando’s face into that of a girl (although the rest of his body remains that of young man).  Rando now looks like Rina Kurimi, the girl he loves.  In a strange twist, Rando is mistaken for Rina’s long lost sister, Yuna Kurimi.  Rando/Yuna soon finds himself adopted into Rina’s family and living next to the love his live, who thinks he’s her sister.

Pretty Face, Vol. 6 is the final volume of the series, and things get crazier than ever.  First, Rando/Yuna and Natsuo Kobayashi, a former karate pupil of Rando’s who is madly in love with him (and knows his secret) play nurses to a crime boss with a weak heart… especially when it comes to buxom young girls.  Then, Natsuo takes on Nozomi Ueda in a battle for Rando/Yuna’s attention.  But that’s small stuff compared to the drama that arises when a certain someone finally returns.

THE LOWDOWN:  With the stories collected in Vols. 5-6, manga-ka (creator) Yasuhiro Kano and his rather large staff hit their stride.  This sexy comic romp became even sexier and funnier.  With all its fan service and T&A, Pretty Face comes across like a teen-safe version of such films as American Pie or Superbad.  The pin-up quality faces and bodies on the female characters practically makes this a definite purchase for collectors of “good girl” art.  Funny with girls that are hot and sexy: Yea, me!

POSSIBLE AUDIENCE:  Similar in tone to Strawberry 100%, Pretty Face is light risqué which fits in with VIZ Media’s “Shonen Jump Advanced” line, and those who like a taste of strawberry will dig a glance at this pretty face.
