An unpretentious tale set in the waning days of the Golden Age with Superman, Batman and other old friends teaming up against the Gentleman Ghost. This is just the first part of a longer story and there are too many questions that go unanswered but the simplicity of the story works well, especially when combined with the wonderful art job that pays homage to the old comics while still looking very modern and up to date. Yes, it is another CRISIS crossover so it still isn't completely clear what is going on but the heartfelt way the story is told just carries it forward. Too bad Perez won't be around for the later chapters of this story-arc.
