Rated “M” for “Mature”

They are all “dogs.”  One is a former hit man, Mihai Mihailov.  One is a gun-for-hire and information broker, Badou Nails.  One is a swords-woman, Naota Fuyumine.  One is a mystery man who wears a metal collar bolted to his neck, Heine Rammsteiner.  United, they are driven to discover the truth about the pasts that haunt them.

As Dogs: Bullets & Carnage, Vol. 10 (Chapters 86 to 94) opens, Director Neubauten and his dog soldiers invade the underground lair of Professor Angelika Einsturzen, prepared to take her down.  All she wants to do is talk and show off... and tell secrets.

Einsturzen is ready to tell Badou about his brother's demise.  Heine learns some unpleasant truths about who and what he is.  Giovanni Rammsteiner learns that he is connected to Heine by more than just status as a “dog.”  Meanwhile Naota faces Ernst Rammsteiner, who tells her some shocking info, but here comes Campanella Fruhling to the rescue.

THE LOWDOWN:  There are volumes of the Dogs: Bullets & Carnage manga that go by in a flash.  There are so many splash pages and half-splash pages, most depicting explosions, gun battles, or high-wire sword-fighting scenes.

Dogs: Bullets & Carnage Volume 10 is one of those gone-in-a-New-York-minute volumes.  It is hard to feel cheated, however.  Series creator Shirow Miwa reveals so many secrets, secret connections, and origins that a regular reader will need a score card and a new reader would be hopelessly lost.  What comes next?

POSSIBLE AUDIENCE:  Fans of violent action manga will want to try the VIZ Signature title, Dogs: Bullets & Carnage.
