The teens that were captured by The Reach and rescued by Young Justice are under supervision of Star Labs and until they decide to run away. Blue Beetle has to stop them from escaping and convince them to return. However, Red Volcano attacks Star Labs in search of spare parts from the Amazon android. Will Blue Beetle and the young renegade heroes be tough enough to stop a foe more powerful than Red Tornado?

The return of Red Volcano was unexpected but quite welcome. It seems that he survived his last encounter with Young Justice, Red Tornado, Red Torpedo and Red Inferno. I wonder how he achieved that while he seemed to have been completely destroyed. Some back story into how he was reactivated and rebuilt would have been useful. This episode skipped a lot of background detail, such as the transfer of the kids with meta-genes to Star Labs from the Justice League. However, I like the setup a lot and I think most fans won’t have a problem with filling in the blanks. With so few episodes left, there’s no room for slow plot information.

Of course, I and many other fans had already predicted that. Static Shock is replacing Black Vulcan but Apache Chief, El Dorado, and Samurai are back. I was expecting the Wonder Twins but it seems that they were not part of the new team. In the old Justice League cartoon from the 2000s, the Wonder Twins were in and El Dorado was out. I really like how the Young Justice team is reviving older DC Comics lore like the ethnic Super Friends that were cheesy in a new way that really makes sense.

The shocker of this episode was the casual way in which Black Beetle was just reintroduced casually as an ally of Blue Beetle and the traitorous Green Beetle. It was surprising how he just showed up. This episode was incredible and I like the power update of the “Super Friends.”  However, the best part of the episode was how Lex Luthor sweet talked the stray kids into joining his team. It was one of the best Lex Luthor manipulation scenes that I’ve seen in years, and there have been many.
