Wonder Woman 9
Wonder Woman 9

This may second or third Wonder Woman only comic I have ever read in all my years. This was probably not a great jumping in point although it wasn't a total waste. If you are planning on making this book one of your regulars probably a good idea to see if the local shop has a few back issues so that you'll know what's happening.

There is almost zero explicit or implied action in this installment. There's shopping, a little kissing and some plane shifting but no fighting. Mostly you're just going to find a bunch of way point markers ie "this person did that", "this person is going to do that". The writer is setting something up, I have no idea what but it's happening.

I like the Wonder Woman character in this. She is charming and compelling. It reminds me of the character we saw in the Batman/Superman movie this summer. The character reminds me that we have a cool looking Wonder Woman movie to look froward to in the coming months.  Keep reminding people that she's a powerful Greek immortal and you're probably helping market the film to the core audience. I'll give Greg Rucka the credit for keeping the story rich and flowing through this 'tween issue.

Liam Sharp does a great job with the character. The beach scenes are particularly classy. Wonder Woman looks great in these pages.

If you know nothing about this character and you have $2.99 burning a hole in you pocket, please save your money. If you want to jump in please ask you Wonder Woman fan friend how far back you need to go to know what's happening and start there. I call this book a 5/10 for beginners. Probably serviceable to those who have been here since issue #1.
