The Amazons are attacking Washington DC and Wonder Woman must find a way to stop this assault-- even after learning it is led by someone who cares for. This is a cross-over with the "Amazons Attack" miniseries but understanding this story does not require reading the miniseries. Despite the grim setting, this is a pretty enjoyable comic with a lot of cleverness and wit, especially in the dialogue. Incredibly, there are actual parts of this comic that may make you want to laugh. When was the last time a WONDER WOMAN comic did that? The depiction of Wonder Woman may anger traditionalists but she actually comes off as a more rounded character in this book than she has in all those issues when she was some sort of ambassador of truth. The art is gorgeous and the action, exciting but it is also a tad too 'clean." There is suppose to be a war going on and yet there is little sign of panic, chaos or confusion in the background. Perhaps that is an improvement over other DC comics which have dead bodies all over the place but it still makes the conflict look rather sterile. Still, this book gets four out of five stars.
