Mysteriously transported to Mars, a Civil War veteran discovers a lush planet inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. Made a prisoner by the creatures, he manages to escape only to stumble upon a beautiful princess in dire need of a savior.

This movie has got such a strong, strong cast, I love it!  At first glance this movie appears as though it will have some pretty strong production values. I'm impressed and I still want to see it!

I just heard that Walt Disney Pictures want this movie to make at least $700 million before they can consider making a sequel. This seems more than a little crazy to me. Hopefully the movie will do well enough that the studio changes it's mind and decides to green light a sequel anyway. The director, Andrew Stanton, was hoping to make a trilogy of movies. I don't know if that is going to happen now, and that makes me a little sad. We'll just have to wait and see.
