Barry Allen is shaken and hurt after his fight with Shrapnel that left three villains murdered. Unable to use his negative force powers to heal himself super fast, Barry has to go to work and help solve the case of the stolen files at the Central City Police. However, as he investigates further, Barry Allen falls prey to leftover pain from his fight with Shrapnel. Will he survive?

I enjoyed this issue which got Barry Allen back to basic police work. It’s the other side of the Flash that makes him such an interesting character. A police procedural story is exactly what was needed after the Button crossover with Batman and the Reverse-Flash adventure that changed Barry Allen so much. Even there, Joshua Williamson throws just enough intrigue in the mix to make the story enjoyable. Of course, the early pages with Barry nursing his wounds are spectacular.
The art was almost as good as the story. Mixing Pop Mhan and Christian Duce does not work though. Their styles are too different and clashed. I prefer Duce’s pages. His faces are stronger and his figures better shaped. Mhan was gave the few Negative Flash illustration a lot of energy but he’s not as great when it comes to illustrating police procedurals!
