The Lich King's New Wrath

How desperate is Blizzard to find new players for World of Warcraft ? How badly does the team need new ideas to make the game more intriguing, and to get more people to want to keep playing the game, buy expansions, or just play at all? Surely they aren't this desperate. Right?
