Regular Show: Fright Pack
is a collection of 14 scary and funny episodes from the hit Cartoon Network animated series featuring Mordecai and Rigby, groundskeepers in a park. Since I discovered Regular Show a few months ago, it has become my favourite animated series. It captures the feel of young male slacker culture and just speaks to me. If that thought is not scary enough for you, then skip to the DVD!

Many of the episodes collected were featured in the first season’s collected edition released just a few months ago. However, the new episodes more than make up in laughter. If you haven’t collected or watched some of these episodes, just get this pack. The series collects two seasons of special episodes called Terror of the Park. These are longer episodes with framing sequences similar to the annual Simpsons Treehouse of horror specials.

But unlike the Simpsons’s scary episodes, these could actually happen in the continuity of the show, if you are familiar with its antic. That actually serves as a great conductor to the rest of the DVD which features stories where there is genuine Regular Show-styled spooky stuff. The animation is the same “regular” fare. I wish the directors of the show had taken a few more risks with some of the stories or their style by perhaps introducing different type of animation like stop motion or 3D animation. I hope this is an idea they pursue in the future.  The DVD is short on special features or Easter eggs.
