Sergeant Baker witnesses the murder of his entire unit by Afghan terrorists. The terrorists work with secret supporters from the United States. His mission is to uncover the identity of the American defense rogues responsible for the elimination of his unit. Supported by a special unit within the CIA in Afghanistan Baker’s crusade may reveal more secrets than he is ready to bear.

This original graphic novel by writer Kevin Powers and artist Dexter Wee will be available soon. Don’t let the cover fool you though. It’s a pure military and intelligence conspiracy as opposed to a super hero tale with a guy dressing up. The part about Baker dressing up pushes the believability of the story to uncomfortable extents. He gets to use experimental technology and body armour that makes him look like Captain America.
It is an interesting part in the story as there are hints within the story that Baker models himself after Captain America. Of course, it’s never mentioned. It made me wonder what Powers was trying to convey by creating a proxy for Captain America.

The story has many characters which at points resemble Sergeant Fury’s Howling Commando, including. They create an interesting set of supporting characters for the hero. Yet there are too many characters in this story. It became a bit difficult to tell them apart because of the confusing artwork.

Dexter Wee captures action scenes well but his brush strokes are too muddy. There are too many lines in the characters’ faces and telling them apart in the end of the comic is a problem. The two women had the same body type and attire. Only their haircut helped me differentiate them.  This graphic novel read like a treatment for a movie. I wonder if Powers has more stories in store for Patriot-1.
