Hacktivist Skye wants to expose the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.) but instead a revived Agent Coulton recruits her. Coulton who allegedly died during the New York invasion in the first Avengers’s movie assembles a new team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to combat supernatural threats. But Skye’s intentions have never changed. Will she betray S.H.I.E.L.D. or not?

The first season of S.H.I.E.L.D. tied into the Marvel cinematic universe nicely and provided more background and glue. The Agents’ original team included two brawn, two brains and the rookie Skye. However, the first episodes were slower and less dramatic. It took sometime before the team finally meshed. The format o the series was difficult. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was neither an X-Files series nor CSI. However, the more the Marvel universe appeared, the better the series was. It made the plot tighter and more driven.

The DVD extras are decent. My favourite was the retrospective on the history of the Marvel cinematic universe in and out of movies. Having the entire set including commentaries is a good way to rediscover this series as more Marvel movies appear regularly. Any plot points from this series will appear in future movies. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is really the glue of the Marvel cinematic universe.
