John Wick is on the run in the streets of New York. If he does not make it to his target, he will become the target. Every assassin in New York is waiting for Wick’s to be up so they can pursue him. Wick has broken many rules and the overseers of the criminals of the world want to put an end to John Wick’s rampage. Will Wick escape his fate?

I have not seen the second John Wick movie but saw the first and this one continues the wanton destruction o human life, good or bad that started in the first. While I enjoy the action, the fights, and the martial arts, I do not enjoy overtly violent films where one man can easily dispose of masses of opponents. John Wick is a fantasy that some have compared to James Bond and Jason Bourne. I see the points of comparison, especially through the franchise being built. However, Wick is not a hero and selfish. He does not help others and many die for his benefit. I do not enjoy the worshiping of this bleak character.

The dark humour is fun and the battle choreography is excellent. The production value is also excellent. Wick 3 will entertain and is a change from usual action films but it may not be a harbinger of the genre that will be copied by others. The closest to Wick so far has been Marvel’s Punisher and even the cinematography of that series is different from Wick in many ways. Wick 3, of course, opens the door for Wick 4. How this story is being stretched is amazing but it’s quite an usual foundation for a franchise.
