A disillusioned university student discovers that he is the half-human progeny of JLA villain Amazo-- making him "Kid Amazo." The guy was created to assist his father in his war against the Justice League. But the kid rebels against his dad and both the League and the villains are left wondering what he will do next with his vast powers. The premise of this story is interesting and the characterization of Kid Amazo is original but the story is told in a rather rushed, cluttered manner, both in prose and art. One moment, Amazo is smashing into a university, the next moment, he is flying away. While the art team does give the League a sense of power and individuality, they make it difficult to understand what is going on. In one panel, it looks like Amazo has robot insects all over him. Only later do we realize that those are his metallic internal organs, flaking off. The art team even gets Superman's symbol wrong at least twice. How do you make a mistake like that? It is obvious that the creative team is trying to tell a unique story, focusing not on the League but on an ordinary guy who finds out that he is quite extraordinary. But if the story becomes too hard to understand, it is likely that many of the readers won't bother to care about the plight of Kid Amazo or any of the other characters in this story arc. Two out of five stars.
