Long-time Harley creative team of Sam Humphries and John Timms return after a break, with a brand new story arc. This issue begins “the Trails of Harley Quinn.” It starts with a Tamaranian showing up at Harley’s place, telling her she’s won the cosmic lottery – literally. She has been chosen as a candidate to serve the Lords of Order and Chaos as their Galactic Angel of Retribution. It comes complete with a sword and bad-ass armor (base figure sold separately.)

MEANWHILE… there’s a-doins a-transpiring in Gotham, as a ne’er-do-well doctor who supplies the bad guys with their much needed chemical to make fear toxins, poison gas and other bio-weapons has been murdered. And all clues point to Harley. Thankfully, Batman is on the case.

Never mind the murders he’s hunting her for over in the pages of Heroes in Crisis. For a comic book publisher that whines so much over continuity, you’d think they’d have a handle on that. But DC has relaxed the continuity in recent days, allowing readers to sit back and enjoy each story on its own merits. Goody for them.

All this leads to confrontation between Batman and Harley, the likes of which we haven’t seen since Batman and Harley Quinn (2017). She’s up to the challenge of facing the Dark Knight, not because she’s a semi-super-villain, but because with her mom battling cancer, Harley’s got nothing to lose. Batman, on the other hand…

Rating: 8/10
