This issue features the story of the Amazing Stymon, a stage magician with real fable powers, recruited by Feathertop to rescue an entertainer imprisoned in a goblin dimension. Stymon wants nothing to do with Feathertop but his thirst for understanding magic compels him to accept the mission. Will he be able to rescue the singer from the evil goblin?

This issue appears to be a standalone issue but since we do not know the outcome of the story, it may be a set up story where Stymon returns later when needed. I enjoyed the story as it explained the world of Fables and its effect on people easily. Of course there is a twist at the end and Feathertop appears to be very evil in his willingness to sacrifice people for what he deems a greater good. He’s like EverAfter’s Amanda Waller!

Steve Rolston’s work is a stark change from what we have been treated to earlier. His rendering which are cartoony and simplified are suited for a story featuring goblins. I do admit that I was put off by it at first since it is so different from the hyperrealism that we have witnessed earlier. But Rolston is a solid storyteller, nevertheless.
