Becky, a young woman wants to be a candidate for a new procedure that allows a pair of persons to share their minds by a company called In Being. In Being’s Doctor Gyllis refuses but the firm’s CEO Sebastian Quinn decides to pair up with Becky and give a taste of the technology. Becky wants pushes Sebastian to offer his company’s services to the masses. Sebastian opposes the idea, but the point becomes moot as they soon share the same body. Who will win in this contest of wills?

Come into Me is an original thriller and science fiction story that cold very well be a reality fairly soon. Elon Musk has people working on similar ideas. While I loved that the story was set in Toronto, my home town, I liked even more the philosophy of self ordeal raised by this comic. The technology is barely explained but a bio-mechanical process is what the authors posit as the mean to transfer one mind to another. Questions about the digital replication of the original brain patterns are not really addressed as the concept of two minds into one grab most to their attention.

The beauty of this comic is how the authors explain the science fiction as a simple extension of current social media practices. That’s why the story is so relatable and captivating. Piotr Kowalski gives a plain look with rudimentary but correct renderings. The low-key factor does not hide the internal debates the characters are going through as the comic progresses. The stunted reality depicted with this visual style removes the artifice and grandiose science fiction elements and replaces it with a story that seems very real.
