This is the finale to half a year’s worth of storytelling to bring back the first Captain America after his death in a plot concocted by the Red Skull. Steve Rogers is alive, but under the control of the Red Skull ready to kill his partner Bucky Barnes, the new Captain America. Will he do it?

This series has been a painful wreck and since this issue has been published, it has been quickly forgotten as its only purpose was to bring back Captain America to the land of the living. This is one of those ridiculous issue with a big climax. The Red Skull even grows into a giant and stomps on the assembled Avengers at his feet. It’s all ridiculous and one wonders why Marvel Comics gave this series the royal treatment and even extended its life while it deserved to have been axed after the first issue. The creators of this comic book are the same as the regular series and they have done much better work in the past. The artists are good but their work too cluttered to matter.
