Ash and his Evil Dead rogues are back after decades when he foolishly unleashes the undead in the world while on a date. Ash now works as a store clerk in a small generic store bored with life. But as his old opponents return from Hell, he has to decide whether he will trade his boring life in the aisle for some butt-kicking and demon destruction.

Bruce Campbell has aged but it doesn’t matter as with better effects and decent cinematography, even a television adaptation and follow up to the classic film series looks good. The story is as ridiculous as ever and that’s a compliment, not a complaint. It’s as gory and features some badly staged scenes like the one where Ash is having sex with some random woman. It’s wacky but that’s exactly what Evil Dead is about.

In this new series, Ash has new allies who act like the classic sidekicks. This series was very popular on Starz and a new season will debut in a few weeks on the same network. The puppets and animatronics used look silly as usual but again, it doesn’t matter. If you were a fan of the genre and need your fix of irreverent funny horror and gore, try Ash versus Evil Dead!

Rating: 8/10
