Spider-man continues to investigate the mysterious return of several dead mob leaders who are now busy making war against Mr Negative and his gang. But Spider-man ally Jean Cooper also finds out about someone close to her that isn’t dead anymore. Is Mysterio pulling all the strings?

This story reads better if one has read the previous stories, although it is easy to approach to new readers. There’s a new character that has been introduced in the form of Captain Yuri which plays a role similar to Jean deWolfe. I like Spider-man’s reaction to the fake murder he was pinned.

Martin is a good artist and his style is in line with the more illustrative and distinctive style used in Amazing Spider-man the last few months. Like many of these artists, it takes a while to get used to the style although the artists are excellent. They are just not super hero material artists. Here, Martin delivers with Spider-man and proves that a good artist can change preconceptions.

Rating: 8/10
