This is a good issue as it shows the effects of the Crisis on the heroes after the big showdown. That some of them got lost in space and returned injured is interesting. I do wonder how Hawkgirl we return to a 5-foot girl instead of her 25, in time for her One Year after debut. The story with Detective Montoya is slow and, to be honest boring. I hope it goes somewhere soon. Now, who votes for Starfire and Animal Man to have an affair? If I was stuck on an idyllic place like they Animal Man, I wouldn’t hold my animal instincts in!
The artwork was less tight than Joe Bennett’s. In the first pages where Montoya meets the Gotham City Captain, I swear I was reading an Archie comic book! Batista’s style changes constantly within this issue. Seems like he has a problem with the smaller panels Keith Giffen provided him with.
