Bruce Wayne argues his case against finding Mr. Freeze guilt of murdering three women, against the advice of Batman. While the Jury with whom Wayne sits wants to inculpate the villain, the only thing standing that is the billionaire playboy. Has Batman really made an error when he found Freeze guilty, as his alter ego suspects?

This issue would be good as an evaluation of Batman and Wayne trying to seek the truth as is wont of such people. The problem with this issue is that the layers and traction and suppositions are muddling everything, and the deliberations of the jury become a mess. There is a solid line of thinking in Wayne’s investigation, but Tom King is not as clever when it comes to portraying this kind detective work and truth-seeing.

Lee Weeks was at pain to depict the talking heads this issue. Of course, I adore his work but even he has limits when handed a script that kills any form of dynamism. One can tell that King overwrote this script. Even Weeks has to rely on the nine-panel grid scheme to get through this issue. While Weeks can deliver nine-panel grid storytelling like the best of them, using him this way is not the best use of his range.

This one was poor.
