Renée Montoya’s future in the DC Universe is finally seen as she sees in herself The Question. As for Ralph Dibny ends Doctor Fate’s quest rather abruptly and possibly causes some of his close friends like Beatriz Bonilla da Costa, also known as Fire, much pain. Who will make it out alive in this magical showdown between Ralph Dibny and Doctor Fate?

This was the most surprising issue of this series thus far. The events, and the big reveal were totally unexpected. Well, I guess they weren’t for hardcore readers keeping notes on 52. This was a pleasurable issue which spotlighted the unique abilities and contribution that Ralph Dibny brought to the DC Universe. As a detective, after what I saw in this issue, I would rank him beyond Batman in ability. Ralph Dibny is more than another stretching man.

This issue reunited Ralph Dibny with one of the artist who drew him often in the old Justice League Europe / Justice League International series. Although the cartoony look was right for Ralph Dibny, it also took away from the seriousness of this issue. Sure Dibny stretches, but he doesn’t have to look weird when he does. At the very least, the team who brings us 52 every month is finally making this series entertaining.

8/10
