At last, the new Batwoman swings into action. And not a moment too soon as the story threatens to get bogged down with the Question lecturing to us about the evils of smoking. The plotline involving Question, Renee Montoya and the new Batwoman, tracking down growing Intergang influence in Gotham is getting a little drawn out. As for the new Batwoman, she doesn't seem all that interesting. Perhaps DC thought making her a lesbian would be enough to give her a character. In an unfortunate coincidence, the art in this issue is rather blocky so that Batwoman and all the other women end up looking rather "man-ish." That certainly wasn't the intention of DC, which is frequently telling us how sexy this new Batwoman is. The second plotline, with Ralph Dibney tracking down a cult that seeks to bring back the dead, seems more interesting. Perhaps because it is easier to care about Dibney, regardless of his sexuality. There is also a back-up feature that basically sums up the events of the recent INFINITE CRISIS. And it also gives us another kink in the continuity of Donna Troy. Why didn't she just stay dead? It would have been more merciful that way.
